Innovations in Reproductive Surgery: Safe and Efficient Hysteroscopy Techniques – ARC Summit
In our surgery center, we have been using the MyoSure device from Hologic for the past 13 years to perform hysteroscopies, particularly for removing polyps and fibroids efficiently. This device allows us to complete procedures swiftly—often within a minute—regardless of the size of the polyp or fibroid. For septums extending to the cervix, I typically use surgical scissors, as demonstrated earlier by Paul. However, for longer septums, I might opt for the MyoSure Light, which significantly speeds up the process.
Our longstanding use of MyoSure has been remarkably successful, with no complications arising from its use. We pride ourselves on the speed and safety of our surgeries, using minimal anesthesia and normal saline, which enhances patient safety and comfort. Currently, there is a push from hospitals to adopt reprocessed instruments, which my team has expressed concerns about, referring to them as substandard. Given our track record and the efficiency of our current tools, we are not considering a transition to these instruments in the near future.
Overall, our approach ensures rapid recovery times and minimal discomfort, maintaining an excellent safety record in the Coachella Valley, with no known complications related to hysteroscopies since adopting the MyoSure system.
