Precision in Peril: Navigating Ureter Injuries in Laparoscopic Surgery – ARC Summit
In a case involving a patient who returned with complications after an endometriosis resection, we encountered a situation where her ovary had adhered to the surrounding tissues, complicating the surgical landscape. During the procedure, I accidentally made a longitudinal cut on the ureter. Fortunately, the orientation of the cut allowed for a simpler repair.
We immediately called in a trusted urologist who advised us to suture the injury. My fellow then skillfully placed two longitudinal stitches along the incision on the ureter. Thanks to the precise suturing and prompt response, the patient recovered excellently from the procedure.
